REVIEW IN "Le Monde" [Google English Translation] Le Monde BLOG [ English Translation ]
From October 2008 to January 2009 the Bibliothèque Nationale de France will be exhibiting its collection of American photography of the 1960’s and 1970’s. This collection was gathered by Jean-Claude Lemagny when he was curator for contemporary photography in our “Prints and Photography department”.
The exhibition will underline the great creativity and influence of American photographs on contemporary photography and its esthetic. It will take place in our “Galerie de Photographie”, on our Richelieu site, in association with another cultural event “Le mois de la photo à Paris” (“The Month of Photography in Paris”, November 2008).
The Bibliothèque nationale de France already holds the largest collection of American photography in France, and we wish to emphasize this with a comprehensively illustrated publication.
